It’s finally been confirmed! Katrina Kaif has bagged the highly coveted female lead opposite superstar Rajinikanth in Kochadayaan.
After considering several B-town glamorous stars, including Anushka Sharma and Vidya Balan, Soundarya Ashwin, Rajini’s younger daughter who is also directing the movie, finally zeroed in on the B-town beauty.
If there were any doubts about ‘foreign girl’ Katrina’s star power in India, now would be a good time to cast them aside. With this major casting coup, the gorgeous actress proves once and for all that she is here to stay.
In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Soundarya had explained that she was looking out for a Bollywood heroine only because she wanted someone with a pan-Indian appeal, since the big budget film is being made in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.
“Yes, it is true! Talks are on with Katrina and we hope to soon finalise her for the project if all goes well,” Soundarya confirmed to DC.
Sources say that Katrina, who is presently busy with two Hindi films, is very keen on sharing screen space with Rajinikanth and is expected to go to any lengths to adjust her dates.
Soundarya also revealed that the ‘Awesome First Look’ of Rajinikanth from Kochadayaan will be unveiled this month end, “Plans are on to release the first set of promos by January end.”
A 3D film, Kochadayaan is said to be based on the life and times of the Pandia emperor from 735 AD.
Katrina will play Rajini’s love interest. A.R. Rahman, who has scored the music, told DC that he has introduced a new sound in the music of this film.
He said that the background score will be on a grand scale, with some world-renowned musicians being roped in. Sneha has been signed on to play the role of Rajini’s sister.
