One of Kollywood’s most eligible bachelors, actor Karthi, is all set to give up his ‘eligible’ tag! The actor is tying the knot with Ranjani, daughter of Chinnasamy and Jothimeenakshi of Erode.
According to sources, this is an arranged marriage. Ranjani studied in Chennai and bagged a gold medal for her Masters in English literature from Stella Maris college in the city.
While speaking to this newspaper, an ecstatic Karthi reveals, “I left the bride-hunting to my parents.
After both our horoscopes were matched, I went along with my mom and dad for the Pon Paarkkum Padalam (a traditional ceremony where the groom and his family come to see the bride) at her native place in Erode.”
So when did he realise that Ranjani is ‘the’ one for him? Probe Karthi further and the actor is all smiles as he discloses, “I was talking to her for an hour and she came across as a very cool person. I was surprised when she told me that while talking to me, she never got the feeling that she was talking to an actor. That is when I made up my mind and was totally confident that this is the perfect girl for me!”
He gushes, “She comes across as a cute and nice girl.” The Sirutthai actor divulges that he gifted his bride-to-be an iPhone.
It is learnt that Ranjani was working with CTS but recently quit her job. Karthi has completed his MS in Industrial Engineering from New York and he returned to Chennai to try his hand in tinsel town and struck gold with his debut film Paruthiveeran.
After completing five films in Tamil, the Paiyya star is a name to be reckoned with in the industry. Karthi and Ranjani will tie the knot on July 3 and it is likely that the wedding will take place in Erode. Following this, Karthi’s father Sivakumar is planning to organise a grand wedding reception in Chennai where the film fraternity will be invited.
One hears that preparations for the wedding are in full swing and the groom’s parents, alongwith his brother actor Suriya and sister-in-law Jyotika are at the helm of affairs.
