Who said Bengaluru’s night life is dead? Party hoppers and youngsters are not willing to take it lying low.

Virgin destinations outside Bengaluru are the new hotspots for party revellers. Yelagiri, Mysore road highway, Wayanad, Nandi Hills, Coorg and Masinagudi are the popular locales for weekend parties.

“The shutter has to be down by 11.30 pm, so there is no point partying in the city,” says 20-year-old Akash Singh, a student who doubles up as a DJ at these parties.

There are no restrictions, no time limit, no one bothers them about the high volume levels and it is an affordable trip. “It works out for all of us. Each one of us carries a bottle of alcohol. We usually order food at the venue, but then there are other enthusiastic souls who carry that as well. Accommodation is very affordable and at Wayanad it is the cheapest, just Rs 100 per head,” says Bipin Basil, a brand consultant.

The amount varies between Rs 400-Rs 1,000 per head, depending on the place they stay. People normally stay at farmhouses or local cottages.

Not just boys, even girls like to venture out and have fun. “In the city cops fuss about girls staying out. So they like to party away from the police glare,” says Raunak Jana, a student.

Even parents are not too perturbed about their daughters’ partying out of town as long as their security is taken care of. “Usually, parents call to find out the location of the venue and if the place is safe, they readily give their permission,” says Singh.

It takes anywhere between two to five hours to reach their destination Youngsters usually drive out on a Friday evening or a Saturday afternoon. But it is not the same crowd at every party.

“We are generally 10-12 of us. Sometimes it is the same group of friends, but often there are many new faces that join us,” says Sherene Varghese, a copy writer.

The only question here is of police intervention. But all the party revelers agree that there hasn’t been any interference from the cops. “So far, no cops have bothered us. In turn we take permission from the closest station,” adds Varghese.
