New Delhi, Dec. 12: The political turmoil in Andhra Pradesh over the Telangana issue has raised a question mark over the second India-Sri Lanka ODI in Visakhapatnam on December 18.
The Vizag region along with other parts of the state has seen an agitation protesting the central government’s decision to grant a separate state for Telangana. “The Sri Lankan team have expressed concern about playing a match in Visakhapatnam but we have not taken a decision about shifting the match out of there yet,” a senior board official said. However, the Andhra Cricket Association was confident that the match would go on as scheduled. “The match is very much on. All arrangements are in place and we will start sale of tickets from Monday,” ACA president G. Gangaraju said. “We have spoken to the Joint Action Committee that is organising the protests and it has assured us that the match will not be disturbed,” he added.
