Fenesta Open: Prerna, Arjun Kadhe sail into Last 16

New Delhi: Arjun Kadhe prevailed over Yugal Bansal 6-2, 6-3 in the second round of the Fenesta Open National Tennis championship here on Wednesday.

“I think my opponent played a good match. I didn’t start in the best ways, in the first two games. As the match went on, I think I felt much better. I also thought I was serving really well throughout the match and the best part is I was feeding the ball on the the racket when I needed to.

“He is a good player he moved really well. We had good exchanges and we had fun on the court,” he said after the match.

The seasoned V.M. Ranjeet eked out a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win against another experienced campaigner in Mohit Jayaprakash. Ranjeet kept his composure to got past Jayaprakash in the long drawn battle.

“I felt good on court in general. I had a tough match today. My opponent played better than me in the second set. But I stayed calm and turned it around in the third. Very happy to be in the next round,” said Ranjeet.

Delhi girl Prerna Bhambri beat state mate Shweta Rana in straight sets at 6-1, 6-4 in the second round. The fourth seed played clinical tennis and her approach was professional.

“I’m happy that I stuck to my plan which worked. It’s always great to be back at the Fenesta Nationals. It’s a very special event for all Indians,” said Prerna.

Zeel Desai had a good win against Anusha Kondaveeti and prevailed in straight sets. “I am really happy for my win today and I served really well. I was really aggressive, I didn’t let her come in the match. I was really positive and focused because if the match is one sided people tend to lose focus,” she said.
