Brisbane, Nov. 26: Australia eased off the pressure on the West Indies on Day One of the first Test at the Gabba here on Thursday, failing to drive home the early advantage.
After winning the toss and dominating with the bat to reach 200/2 in 48 overs, Ricky Ponting’s side ended up at 322/5 at stumps with Marcus North batting on 42 and Brad Haddin unbeaten on nine. “I think it was good to get to 60-odd. But all of us are a little bit disappointed that we couldn’t go on and get a big hundred,” Fox Sports quoted Michael Hussey as saying.
