India scored their highest ever one-day total on Tuesday, amassing 414-7 from 50 overs after being sent in to bat by Sri Lanka in the first limited-overs international.
Virender Sehwag led the way with 146 off 102 balls. Sachin Tendulkar hit 69 from 63 balls and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni made 72 off 53 balls to help India post the fifth biggest one-day score overall.
Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and opted to field against India in the first cricket one-day international at Madhavrao stadium on Tuesday.
India would be without middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh, who has failed to recover from a finger injury. Virat Kohli, as expected, comes in place of Yuvraj.
Also missing from the hosts' final XI are Pragyan Ojha and Sudeep Tyagi.
Sri Lanka will be without two star bowlers -- spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan and paceman Lasith Malinga.
While Malinga is down with flu, Murali is out due to finger injury.

It is not mere luck that Sehwag is playing like this. Luck should be lucky enough to be on the side of Sehwag.
