Amritpal, Amjyot, Palpreet to feature in NBA D-League drafts

After Satnam's success last year, three more Indian hoopsters are on the verge of making history.

Mumbai: India basketball captain Amritpal Singh has signed a contract with the NBA, which makes him eligible for the D-League drafts, set to take place on Sunday (Monday morning, IST).

His fellow Indian hoopsters Amjyot Singh and Palpreet Singh have also previously signed contracts with the NBA D-League.

Amritpal Singh has been a regular in the Indian basketball team, and captained the side in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge, earlier this year.

Amritpal’s long-time teammate Amjyot has also signed the contract, the duo are set to feature in the NBA D-League drafts on Monday.

Both Amritpal and Amjyot have made their names on the international circuit due to their performances for the national side. Their performance in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship is arguably the highlight of their respective careers.

The duo has also gone on to become the first Indian cagers to play professionally in Japan, after they signed for Tokyo Excellence.

Amjyot and Amritpal have won the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) championship with Tokyo Excellence, in Japan. The two are now ready to make the big move to the US.

Last year, Satnam Singh became the first Indian to get an NBA D-League contract, before he went on to sign with the Texas Legends.

Palpreet was monitored by NBA India at the Ludhiana Basketball Academy for two years, before being sent to USA for the D-League players’ contract.
