Rio Games: Gymnast Dipa Karmakar likely to get Khel Ratna, say reports

Dipa Karmakar's coach Bishweshwar Nandi is likely to be honoured with the Dronacharya award.

New Delhi: Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who missed out on a bronze medal in the vault final at the Rio Olympics, could get the Khel Ratna, India’s highest sporting honour.

According to NDTV Sports, a decision in this regard is likely to be taken on Thursday.

Dipa Karmakar is the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics.

Dipa Karmakar’s coach Bishweshwar Nandi is likely to be honoured with the Dronacharya award.

Meanwhile, reports suggested that shooter Jitu Rai might also be nominated for the Khel Ratna.
