Clutch of trophies for Hyderabad’s Mazda

Mazda swept all the trophies at stake to return with 18 of them!

Hyderabad: The 10,000 strong crowd came to life at the Haldia Mela grounds as multiple national champion Mazdayar Vatcha of Hyderabad dominated the proceedings over the weekend in the Haldia Autocross and Calcutta Autocross, raking up wins in three categories, for cars upto 1400cc, cars upto 1650cc and the Unrestricted Class. Each of these had sub-categories of Open and INAC qualifiers and a Tuning Trophy for the INAC qualifiers.

After the postponement of the Round One of the Indian National Autocross Championship East Zone Qualifier due to Cyclone Bulbul on November 9, the organisers, MSAEI, CMSC and KASA put together both the rounds of the event on a single weekend to facilitate logistics.

Mazdayar was ecstatic but modest. “A big thanks to Ashis Bagchi for letting me use his Maruti Esteem for the event. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge from Ibrahim, Saddam and Abhijeet during this event,” he said.

“An awesome organising team lead by Saurav Chatterjee put together a superb track and Ajgar Ali personally ensured superlative hospitality. Everyone at the event had big smiles across their faces,” he added.

From a total of 104 participants, winners in other categories included Ibrahim Ali Shaikh, Abhijeet Singh, Saddam Shaikh, Sourabh Choudhary, Nirav Mehta, Hero Sen, Subir Roy.

Chandrasish Roy, the youngest participant, too did not disappoint and picked trophies alongside his father Subir Roy. Among the ladies, Deepshikha Ganeriwala and Sunita Prasad Shaikh claimed most of the trophies.

The winners from all four zones will now compete in the National Final to be held at Vijayawada.
