Zara celebrates Rio qualification

The former world champion won silver at the London 2012 games.

Princess Anne beamed with pride as her daughter Zara celebrated reaching the Rio Olympics with her toddler Mia and husband Mike. Zara, 34, effectively qualified for this summer’s games by achieving 24th place at the Badminton Horse Trials, in Gloucestershire, on her horse High Kingdom.

The former world champion won silver at the London 2012 games on High Kingdom and was over the moon after performing well at the event, known to be one of the most difficult and exciting in the equestrian calendar.

She told the BBC: “The Olympics is the place to be. It is where you want to be, with the rest of the world’s sport. It is a unique championship, and to be able to represent your country there is phenomenal.”

The accomplished equestrian competitor was seen sharing a kiss with Tindall, a former English rugby international, and two-year-old daughter Mia who was seen supporting her mother at the contest earlier this week.
