Chennai: Scorching desert conditions, camels, rocks and super-fast roads were just some of the challenges that the MRF Skoda drivers faced in the APRC China Rally.
The third round of the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship the China Rally moved to a new location in Zhangye, a city in the far west of the country and a stop on the ancient Silk Road.
India’s Gaurav Gill driving an MRF Skoda Fabia R5 continued the momentum from the previous rounds where he has won all events, and although second overall on this event takes maximum APRC points, as the winner Manfred Stohlfrom Austria is not an APRC registered driver. Fellow MRF Skoda driver Fabian Kreim from Germany didn’t have such a good event as after consistently posting times in the top three, on SS5 a turbo blew ending any chance of a good finish. The next event in the APRC calendar is Rally Hokkaido, Japan, to be held from September 23 to 25.
