Guntur: A 10-year-old boy has set four new world records in limbo skating in a display of amazing skill near Acharya Nagarjuna University on Thursday.
Devisri Prasad passed beneath 60 cars, a distance of 115.90 metres and redid the span without any hassles.
The SAAP and ANU had made all arrangement for the record-breaking attempt, including laying a new road besides the ANU at the Ramakrishna Venuzia as part of their preparation.
Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records were at hand to verify the record-breaking attempt.
Prasad skated to glory in a time of 23.51 seconds. He completed the feet in the forward and backward skating category. He completed other feet of swerve skating beneath 80 bars arranged at a height of 10 inches from the ground and 184 metres in length by opting for forward skating and also in the 60 bars category of 160 meters backward skating.
He established a new record in the 160 bar category by breaking existing record of 145 bars. Also, he created three new records of direct skating for 115.90 meters in both forward and backward motion that earned him the Guinness record.
ANU physical director Y. Kishore said the youngster, who had won many national and international awards, including 72 medals in skating, had already made an entry into the Limca Book of Records and now his name has been entered in the “mother of all record books, the Guinness Book of World Records”.
The representative of Guinness Book, Swapnil Dagrikar appreciated his feet and presented a certificate to Prasad.
Mr Kishore said limbo skating of roller limbo is a sport in which a person moves underneath an obstacle like a horizontal pole without touching it, on roller skates. His parents Lokanadham and Padma congratulated the boy for creating new history.
AP sports minister K. Ravindra, badminton star P.V. Sindhu and SAAP officials and ANU officials congratulated the boy and wished for more new records in the future.
Prasad said that he aimed to win an Olympic medal and expressed gratitude everyone who encouraged him to achieve the feet.
Later, Prasad along with parents and officials met Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu who appreciated his record-breaking effort and announced Rs 10 lakh cash award.
