Don't know how BFC fans will react: Robin Singh

Having made a deep connection with fans and the city during his successful stint at Bengaluru, the towering striker is quick to reveal his love.

Bengaluru: Having scored the winner for East Bengal against Bengaluru FC, setting off a run that sent the defending champions spiraling down a catastrophic path in terms of results, former BFC boy Robin Singh believes that it’s all part of the job. And rightfully so.

“I’m a striker and my job is to score. It takes just a second for someone to make a mistake and unfortunately it was John (Johnson) who made the mistake (that day). I was at the right place at the right time and I scored,” he revealed.

“I was happy that I scored and this happiness will be the same (if I score) against Mohun Bagan or anyone else because for me, scoring for East Bengal is important. I play for the passion of the sport. I hope I keep scoring and I want to do that as much as I can. Happiness that I scored? Yes. But was it because it was BFC? No,” he stressed.

Having made a deep connection with fans and the city during his successful stint at Bengaluru, the towering striker is quick to reveal his love.

“I don’t know how they (BFC fans) will react actually. But West Block is here for Indian football. They will be on the other side yes, but they will be here for Indian football. I love playing here and we, as East Bengal, will love playing here. A lot of boys, especially the foreigners, haven’t played here before but I’ve spoken how the fans are. We are all looking forward as a team,” he remarked.

In pole position for the title chase, the East Bengal striker is keen to add to his trophy collection. “We as a team are focused and will do what it takes to win. That’s what the boys have been doing. We want to win the league and the idea is to be champions. If we work hard then we can,” he signed off.
