Ahmad Shehzad takes a dig at Shahid Afridi

The right-handed batsman was dropped from Pakistan's Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 squad.

Mumbai: Dropped from Pakistan’s Asia Cup T20 and ICC World Twenty20 squad, Ahmad Shehzad minced no words as he slammed the team selections ahead of Pakistan's clash against Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Indian side in Mirpur on Saturday.

Shehzad, who gets heavily criticised for failing to fulfil his potential, said he was disappointed after his exclusion despite good performance over the last three and half years.

“I don’t understand the reason of dropping an established player after a bad performance in one or two series,” Shehzad told Pakistani 'ARY News' on Thursday.

"If performance was the only criteria then I should have been selected. I've performed well in the last three and a half years," he added.

The right-hander, who enjoyed a good run of form (290 runs) in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League, said, "A player's form can fluctuate, but ability is something that always remains consistent. I am not disappointed; I am very much satisfied with my performances."

When asked what would be his message to Shahid Afridi, with whom Shehzad is known to share a good rapport, he made a rather sarcastic remark.

"The team has been picked according to their (management and captain) wish and good luck to them.”

Shehzad, who shares a striking resemblance in terms of looks with Virat Kohli, was recently trolled by commentators Simon Doull and Ramiz Raja during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand.
