Rahul Dravid has to decide between Team India and IPL: Reports

The new BCCI constitution does not allow Rahul Dravid to fulfil both roles at the same time.

Mumbai: Legendary Indian batsman Rahul Dravid may be in a spot of bother, with the latest updates in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) constitution, which places him under conflict of interest.

Dravid, who is currently the head coach of the India u-19 side, is also contracted with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Daredevils, as a consultant.

However, under the new constitution of the BCCI, the 44-year-old cannot work for both club and country.

Dravid’s current contract with the BCCI still has 10 months to go, but provisions under the previous constitution allowed him to take over a coaching or a consultant role in the IPL as well.

In order to help provide Dravid a way out of this impasse, the BCCI has decided to pay him the same amount that he was supposed to receive from Delhi Daredevils for his consultancy role, according to a report in the Indian Express.

However, instead of coaching in the IPL Dravid would be given a role in the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, should he decide to take up this offer by the BCCI.
