KPL: Bijapur Bulls too hot for Shivamogga

Hubballi: The troika of Robin Uthappa, R. Samarth and Abhimanyu Mithun starred as defending champions Bijapur Bulls thumped Namma Shivamogga by 65 runs in a rain-truncated clash of the KPL-5 at the KSCA Stadium in Rajnagar here on Saturday.

In the 13 overs-a-side second game, Bulls’ Samarth (51, 25b, 2x6, 6x4) along with skipper Robin Uthappa (67; 37b, 4x6, 6x4) ripped apart Shivamogga bowling to stack 159/6. The duo added 77 in 45 deliveries.

In chase of the big total, Shivamogga managed 94/5 as KV Siddharth (44 n.o) and Pavan Deshpande (34 n.o) contributed useful runs that wasn’t simply enough to take across the finish line. Pacer Abhimanyu Mithun bagged three wickets.

Earlier in the day, Bellary Tuskers recorded their second win defeating Mangalore United by seven wickets in a seven overs-a-side clash.
