Johannesburg: On this day, 10 years ago, Team India were crowned as champions of the in the inaugural edition of the ICC World T20 after beating arch-rivals Pakistan in a nail-biting thriller. During its launch, T20 didn’t catch the eye of many including the BCCI give the tournament a lot of importance.

After a shocking group stage exit in 2007 World Cup in West Indies, a tournament where Rahul Dravid’s India side were touted as favourites, the Indian cricket body elected a young side to play the tournament in South Africa. And with burdening all the expectations, MS Dhoni’s young brigade made their name in the history books.

BCCI on Sunday posted a video of the historic triumph tagging all the members of the Men in Blue squad. However, two unmentioned names were those of fast bowlers S Sreesanth and Joginder Sharma, who were collectively involved in Misbah-ul-Haq’s dismissal in the final, that handed India the cup.

Many fans lashed at BCCI, for failing to give credit to Sreesanth and Joginder.

Sreesanth, off late, has been fighting against his cricket life ban imposed by the BCCI after being involved in a match-fixing scandal during 2013. Meanwhile, Joginder Sharma is currently a DSP working with Haryana Police.
