ICC World T20: 5 reasons why India will beat Bangladesh

Team India will take on neighbours in Group 2 tie in Bengaluru on Wednesday

Mumbai: Bangladesh’s recent high hit rock bottom after consecutive losses to Pakistan and Australia in the ICC World Twenty20 Group 2, Super 10 stage. On the other hand, India beat Pakistan by six wickets to stay afloat in the tournament. The two sides will meet in the mega event at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Though Bangladesh is a balanced side, India still remain favourites, here is why.

Virat Kohli’s form

Kohli is the man who delivers under pressure. He missed out against New Zealand but rose to the occasion against Pakistan when it mattered most. Along with Yuvraj Singh, he stitched a 61-run partnership for the fourth wicket and remained unbeaten on 55 off 37 deliveries.

Jasprit Bumrah – the wonder boy

At a stage when Mohammad Hafeez is on strike in the last over of an innings, Bumrah kept him quiet conceding only seven runs. The 22-year-old has a sling action, raw pace and good control over his yorkers.

MS Dhoni back to old self

Critics thought MS Dhoni is done and dusted. But Captain Cool staged a sensational comeback in the shortest format with 3-0 win against Australia, Sri Lanka and then, Asia Cup – where the destructive batsman could be seen once again. When the captain is on song, India can hardly lose a match. He was not out in two of his last three innings.

Indian spinners on a roll

Apart from Shakib Al Hasan, Bangladesh doesn’t have a quality spinner as such in their ranks. On spin-friendly wickets in India where Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are giving batsmen a tough time, it is going to be advantage India once again.

No Taskin Ahmed for Bangla

With Rubel Hossain already not being in the squad, Taskin’s absence is a major blow for Bangladesh. The pace duo – a part of the team’s good show in ICC World Cup 2015 – has been the striking force for the team.
