Aussies beat the Asian side by 39 runs after Pakistan came within touching distance of breaking the record for the highest successful chase ever in Test cricket. Asad Shafiq's defiant 137 helped Pakistan to reach 450 in the 4th innings after they were setup a mammoth target of 490 by the hosts.

This was for the first time that Pakistan crossed 400-run mark in the fourth innings. Pakistan crossed the previous highest fourth innings total at Brisbane, which was made by England when they scored 370 in Ashes 2006-07.

Pakistan also broke India’s record of highest fourth innings score by a visiting team in Australia. Pakistan’s 450 beat the score of 445 set by India at Adelaide in 1977-78.

Last but not the least; Pakistan equalled the third highest score made in the fourth innings of any Test.
