Pragyan Ojha, Aamir Gani put CAB in command

Bengaluru: Valiant fifties from Samarth R, Mayank Agarwal and Gowtham K. helped KSCA XI a modest total defend against Cricket Association of Bengal on the third day of the KSCA Dr. (Capt.) K Thimmappiah Memorial four-day cricket tournament final here on Wednesday.

At the Alur (1) ground, the hosts on overnight 52 for no wicket were bowled out for 309 as left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha picked up a five-wicket haul. Supporting Ojha, off-spinner Aamir Gani bagged four wickets.

Crucial innings from the troika — Samarth R. (68 n.o, 160b, 6x4), Mayank Agarwal (74, 132b, 8x4) and Gowtham K (73, 125b, 7x4, 2x6) helped their side setup a 230-run target. Apart from the trio, CM Gautam made 32.

In the chase, CAB were 51 for one with Abhimanyu Easwaran (21 batting) and Sudip Chatterjee (1 batting) in the middle. Going into the final day, CAB need another 179 runs to take home the trophy.
