Members of the East Point Golf Club in Vizag were first surprised, and then awestruck, on Saturday, when they realised that the little man playing golf at the club was none other than Sachin Tendulkar.
With Mumbai and Pune matches shifted to Vizag, the city has become home ground for the Mumbai Indians for the rest of the season. Tendulkar, being their mentor, is here too.
The mobile cameras continued to flash as Sachin, who was accompanied by Ravi Shastri, obliged people by posing. “It was like a dream come true. We were about 20 members on the course, playing a round when Sachin paid a visit. It took us some time to realise it was indeed Sachin,” says member Vasanth.
“I appreciate his down-to-earth attitude. He posed with the club members for many shots, not getting irritated at all.” “No one knew about Sachin’s visit. My father plays golf. So, when his friends informed him about the visit, he and I left for the golf course wasting no time. Sharing a space with such a big legend will remain a memorable moment of my life,” says B Bose.
Some members even said that the Master Blaster had a great golf swing, coupled with concentration and seriousness towards the game. He played six out of 18 holes, proving that his talent is not confined to the cricket ground.
