Watch: When a girl from Hyderabad wanted to live with Rahul Dravid

Former India skipper Dravid also had a huge fan following, specially from the opposite sex.

Mumbai: Former India skipper Rahul Dravid was quite a chick magnet during his heydays. The Indore-born cricketer’s mannerisms both on and off the field served as inspiration for many young players across the globe.

Dravid also had a huge fan following, specially from the opposite sex. His innocent looks bowled over many girls and in one rather peculiar incident, a female fan just refused to leave his home.

Recently, in chat with cricket humourist Vikram Sathaye on the show ‘What The Duck’, Dravid shared an interesting story about a female fan from Hyderabad who just refused to leave his pad.

It all started when Sathaye triggered off a question over Dravid’s female fan following.

Every mother wanted you to be her son-in-law. Somewhere, you gave an impression that you would make a great husband. And your colleagues tell me that you have a lot of female following. Any interesting stories there?”

Gentle as he is, Dravid replied politely.

I had come back, I think from a long tour, just come back and I had gone off to sleep after sort of reaching home in the morning and I was sleeping through the afternoon. I got up in the evening and my mom said, ‘there is a fan waiting for you.’ She has come all the way from Hyderabad and been waiting there for about an hour and my parents had given her tea and coffee. She was just sitting there waiting for me. I went there and gave her the usual autograph, photograph and said, Hello, How are you? Oh, you have come from Hyderabad. It’s great.”

Dravid accepted to sign and autograph and also clicked a picture with her but received a shock when the girl said that she had already left her house for him and wanted to stay in his house. Dravid asked, “How is that possible? Where are your parents? Obviously, I got a bit upset at that stage.”

The tale was a shocking one to Dravid but thankfully ended on a good note. “I think it was a little bit of wake-up call for my parents as well. It was one of those things, which was not ideal kind of situation. But, it all ended up well. So, it was ok.”
