Mumbai: India’s strike bowler Ravichandran Ashwin produced his best ever bowling performance to help India register an emphatic series victory against New Zealand.
Ashwin took 27 wickets in the series, with 13 of them coming in the final Test at Indore.
In an interview given to NDTV, legendary Indian spinner EAS Prasanna expressed that Ashwin needs to prove himself overseas.
"His batting capabilities is a value add, but Ashwin's bowling overseas will be the real test," Prasanna said.
Prasanna was full of praise for Ashwin and labelled him as the India’s most intelligent bowler. Prasanna also felt Ashwin’s success in India will allow him to perform better abroad.
"Ashwin is the most intelligent bowler that we have now. His home performance will help improve his overseas credentials," added Prasanna.
On the issue of spin friendly pitches, Prasanna added that New Zealand’s failure was a result of their batsmen inability to play spin.
The former player said: "Our spinners bowled exceedingly well versus New Zealand. More than the pitches, foreign teams who came to India before were better equipped to play spin."
