Kohli suggests Vettori's name for India coach job

No controversy at all. All these things do come up when there is a scenario when you have to appoint someone as coach, says Virat.

Bengaluru: As several names are making rounds for the Indian team coach’s position, Test team skipper Virat Kohli has suggested Daniel Vettori’s name for the lucrative role.

The position has been vacant since the departure of Team Director Ravi Shastri in April and Kohli is keen to see the Royal Challengers Bangalore coach Vetorri taking up the top job.

“I don’t see it as a controversy at all. See, all these things do come up when there is a scenario when you have to appoint someone (coach). I don’t know how it has come out now. I have spoken to him a while back,” Kohli said on Thursday.

Since replacing Ray Jennings, the former New Zealand Test captain Vettori has been coaching RCB in the IPL since two summers. And also the Kiwi has been part of the franchise since 2011.

“We have spoken to a few other people as well and everyone knows about it. I can’t say anything more about it because I don’t know what it has come out now,” added the 27-year-old ace Kohli added.

The dashing batsman Kohli took over the captaincy from the 37-year-old Vettori three years ago. Apart from the heading the RCB coaching set up, the former Black Caps star is also the head coach of Big Bash League side the Brisbane Heat.
