Couto brothers to narrate fond memories of close pal Sachin in Pune

The duo are scheduled to share their views on Sachin Tendulkar at 12.00 pm on Sunday.

Mumbai: The Couto brothers, Marcus Couto and Ricky Dominic Couto who know Sachin Tendulkar from his very early years have been invited by Pune's Deccan Gymkhana to share their memories of the ‘Little Master’.

The duo are scheduled to share their views on Sachin Tendulkar at 12.00 pm on Sunday.

Sachin and Vinod Kambli, the famous pair of cricket-friends were regular visitors at Couto house in Wadala. Ricky will remember his school days when both were classmates at Shardashram Vidyamandir.

Legendary Australian cricketer late Don Bradman had fallen in love with Sachin's batting and had invited (along with Shane Warne) on his 90th birthday at his residence in 1998.

Sachin had not seen Bradman batting but was not tired of seeing him from a video clipping Ricky used to have.

Sachin and his wife Anjali attended Ricky's wedding in 2005. Ricky, in 1993, was named in Limca Book of Records as the youngest umpire in India at the age of 16.

Marcus, the BCCI umpire, works at the CCI and his brother, Ricky, also an umpire have ample stories to narrate on Sachin. Both brothers attended Sachin's farewell Test in Mumbai in November 2013.

Reports had it that Marcus was singularly responsible for discovering that Sachin and Kambli's 664-run partnership in the Harris Shield in February 1988 was a world record.
