NTK leader Seeman: Chennai Super Kings April 20th IPL game won't happen, will protest

Chennai: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been given a major blow during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), with the team’s home matches being shifted out of Chepauk for the rest of the season due to the Cauvery water issue.

On Tuesday, three Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) workers were detained for hurling shoes in the MA Chidambaram Stadium here during CSK’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In a thrilling finish, CSK defeated KKR by five wickets.

Speaking on the issue, NTK leader Seeman said that they would protest on Thursday and would ensure that CSK’s match against Rajasthan Royals in the city on April 20 will not happen.

“Tomorrow we will protest. April 20 match won’t happen,” he said to The News Minute.

Bharathiraja, director of the political party, also supported for the protests.

“We will continue to protest every time there is an IPL match in Chennai. The protests will be intensified.”

On Tuesday, a lot of CSK fans were attacked by the protestors during the game. Seeman, however, denied that.

“We didn’t indulge in violence. It was the police who resorted to lathi charge. Who attacked cricket fans? If we wanted to attack, could anyone have entered the stadium? What violence did we do?”, he said.

CSK will lock horns against Kings XI Punjab when they travel to Mohali on Sunday.
