Mithali Raj-led India women's cricket team squad for South Africa ODIs announced

The tour to the African nation will be a part of the ongoing ICC Women's World Championship.

Mumbai: The squad for Mithali Raj-led Indian women’s cricket team’s tour to South Africa was announced on Wednesday.

The tour to the African nation will be a part of the ongoing ICC Women’s World Championship.

The team features most of the finalists from the ICC Women’s World Cup in England last year. The visitors lost the final to England in July last year.

The team will be led by Mithali Raj, with Harmanpreet Kaur being the vice-captain.

“The All-India Women's Selection Committee has named the ODI squad for India Women's Tour to South Africa. The Indian Women's Cricket Team will play three ODIs against South Africa Women as part of the ICC Women’s Championship (2017-2020) in February,” a BCCI statement said.

Ahead of the thre-match ODI series, there will be a warm-up match at Bloemfontein on February 2. The first ODI will be played on Febryary 5.

The ODIs will be followed by five T20Is against the same opponents.

India Women's ODI squad: Mithali Raj (Captain), Harmanpreet Kaur (vice-captain), Sushma Verma (wicket-keeper), Ekta Bisht, Smriti Mandhana, Poonam Yadav, Punam Raut, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Jemimah Rodrigues, Jhulan Goswami, Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Mona Meshram, Pooja Vastrakar, Veda Krishnamurthy, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper).
