Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala win Dayanand trophy

For Andrews, Aditya was the top scorer with 28 runs.

Sri Chaitanya Junior Kalasala won the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s R. Dayanand Trophy by defeating St Andrews High School by 7 wickets in a rather on-sided final. Batting first, St Andrews were bowled out for a paltry total of 108 as Ronak Agarwal snared 3 wickets while conceding 28 runs. Saqlain Arafat and Anirudh Raj picked 2 for 10 and 2 for 17 respectively.

For Andrews, Aditya was the top scorer with 28. He could not find any support from the rest of the batsmen as the rival bowlers stuck to a tight line and frustrated the favoured team. Eventually, Andrews was out for a lowly score. Sri Chaitanya chased down the target steadily in 24.3 overs as Kaushik Reddy remained unbeaten on a fine knock of 43. Kaushik was well supported by Prateek Reddy, who contributed 25 as Chaitanya were in control right through the run chase which they eventually completed in the 25th over with seven wickets in hand.

Mayank Gupta did his best for Andrews by taking 2 wickets while conceding 18 runs but to no avail as the Chaitanya boys, having sealed a prestigious trophy on the school cricket calendar, laughed all the way back to the pavilion. In another game, the Combined Districts team got better of Hyderabad by 104 runs in a practice match for the Hyderabad Cricket Association’s Under-16 side. While chasing a decent total of 158, Hyderabad were shut out for a mere 53 as Ajay and Sarfaraz demolished their batting line-up with brilliant bowling figures of 6 for 11 and 3 for 27 respectively. The Hyderabad side showed no application as the Districts boys packed in too much power.
