India vs Zimbabwe: Graeme Cremer bats for 'vital' toss

Cremer believes that the tradition of toss should continue with the game.

Mumbai: Zimbabwe captain Graeme Cremer too believes that the toss in the matches against India will be vital.

Team India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, in his pre-departure media conference in a city hotel here on Tuesday, twice said that toss will play a crucial role in the series.

Cremer, when contacted in Harare, said, "Yes, I am sure it (toss) will be (vital). Here in Zimbabwe, it's a good batting wicket, and gets harder in the afternoon to bat. It will be good to win the toss and bat," Cremer said.

Dhoni was not sure whether the toss should be abolished. "The experiments are underway on this and only with the passage of time the decision on abolishing the toss can be taken," he said at the media-briefing.

Cremer, however, believes that the tradition of toss should continue with the game. "They should keep the toss. It is a part of the game. I don't agree with abolishing the toss," he said.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have given the option of scrapping this tradition in County games on an experimental basis this season.
