Hyderabad: As many as 1,204 security personnel will guard the India vs Bangladesh Test match scheduled from February 9 to 13 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Uppal. Rachakonda Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the match. Traffic diversions for heavy vehicles and parking restrictions on either sides of the main road from Genpact to Uppal Ring Road and Uppal Ring road to Vishal mart in Ramanthapur will be in place on the days of the match. Meanwhile, stadium officials said around 5,000 students per day will be allowed to watch the match free of cost.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat on Monday reviewed security arrangements at the stadium and said arrangements will be made in coordination with six different wings. “Teams from Octopus, Security wing, Traffic, Law and Order, Special Branch, CCS, fire department will be deployed round the clock at the stadium and a total of 56 CCTV cameras are being installed on the premises including at vehicle checkpoints,” he said.
In addition to these teams, SHE teams and special parties will be deployed to encounter emergencies. Anti-sabotage checks will be conducted round the clock by 10 bomb disposal teams till the match lasts.
Police also issued guidelines on the articles to be carried inside the stadium. Spectators are not allowed to carry unwanted articles like bags, banners, cameras, binoculars, match boxes, lights, helmets, cigarettes, perfumes, eatables, carriages and water bottles.
Restrictions will be in place for the heavy goods vehicles from February 9, 6 am, to February 13, 6 pm. Vehicles which are entering the city from L.B. Nagar and Warangal, will not be allowed towards Habsiguda and will be diverted towards Mallapur bridge via Uppal crossroads, and those coming from Warangal route will also be diverted to Mallapur bridge through Chengicherla crossroads.
Vehicles coming from ECIL, Kushaiguda, Cherlapally crossroads, towards Uppal crossroads will be diverted via Mallapur bridge, Chengicherla crossroads and LB Nagar junctions.
