Gagan scouts for shooters in Hyderabad

The Talent Search process will be open to children between 12 and 15, an age where children can naturally adapt to the sport.

Hyderabad: In a bid to nurture shooting talent at the grassroot level in Hyderabad, the Gagan Narang Sports Promotion Foundation (GNSPF) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of Telangana State will scout for shooting talent and train them at the Gun For Glory (GFG) Shooting Academy centres in Secunderabad and Jubilee Hills.

With the success of the GFG shooters at the international level, GNSPF has decided to launch the talent search process in a joint initiative with SATS. Minority Schools and Social Welfare and Tribal Schools in Telangana are set to make world class curriculum based coaching and state of the art facilities available to the shooters of Telangana.

The Talent Search process will be open to children between 12 and 15, an age where children can naturally adapt to the sport.

A joint scholarship to 20 talented shooters of the state for Air Rifle and Air Pistol training is also being offered.

“My parents had to sell a plot of land to buy a rifle for me in my initial days... we stayed on rented accommodation for 20 years… I want to give the right guidance and training to the kids of the state at a fraction of the cost to nurture talent so no parent or child has to face difficulties to start and continue the sport,” Olympic medallist Gagan said.
