Srinivasan to pick his successor: Sources

There have been whispers of Srinivasan's daughter Rupa Gurunath stepping into cricket administration, but the source said it's highly unlikely.

Chennai: N. Srinivasan, who currently holds an overwhelming majority as the president of the TNCA, is likely to pick his own successor at the special general body meeting, a date for which will be decided when the executive committee members convene in a day or two. As it’s not clear whether the Supreme Court order is to be implemented by the state associations with immediate effect, the TNCA is biding its time to call for the meeting.

“In the previous EC meetings, we never discussed our plan B. We always waited for SC’s verdict. But if it comes to the point that Srinivasan has to leave the chair, someone who is trustworthy to him will be picked to lead. In all probability, it will be from the top management of the India Cements,” said a source.

There have been whispers of Srinivasan’s daughter Rupa Gurunath stepping into cricket administration, but the source said it’s highly unlikely. According to the Lodha recommendations, majority of the principle officebearers in TNCA including secretary K.S. Viswanathan are not eligible to continue.
