Jalandhar/Melbourne/
New Delhi, May 30: Cricketer Harbhajan Singh’s cousin on Saturday alleged that an Australian taxi driver had killed his son in Melbourne. Mr Jagjit Singh claimed that his 26-year-old son Upkar Singh Babbal, who went to Australia in 2004, was killed in a racist attack in Melbourne on May 7.

Mr Jagjit Singh said that according to Babbal’s friends in Australia, he was killed by an Australian taxi driver who threw his body on the railway tracks. Babbal’s body was sent by Indian boys who were known to him, after the Australian police refused to conduct a post-mortem, Mr Jagjit Singh claimed. “We were informed by the Australian police that Babbal had committed suicide,” Mr Jagjit Singh said.

But Babbal’s body, which was cremated here on May 15, bore only a scar near his eye. Mr Singh pointed out that if he was hit by a train then there should have been more injury marks.

In Melbourne, after surviving a murderous attack, a 25-year-old Indian student asked his countrymen not to go to Australia. “My advice to every Indian student who wants to come to Australia is please don’t come and that there’s no life here,” said Mr Baljinder Singh.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan said he had rejected an honorary doctorate offered to him by the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane. Bachchan had earlier accepted the honour, offered for his contribution to the world of entertainment, he said in his blog.

Hello All,

Looks like most of the comments are from desperate Indian students facing lot of hardships. Well every Indian or Australian in Australia needs to work hard while being a student. You know what, all Indians want to do good jobs rather than doing hard jobs. But you need to understand every foriegn executive at some time or other has worked in McDonalds or other hard jobs.

I am an Indian Australian living here since last 9 years. I too worked hard while being a student here but now a senior IT professional makiing much more money than local Australian.

Please be patient and work hard and pursue your studies in good Australian world class Australian Universities and you will see amazing days in Australia or anywhere else.

Stop thinking you make a fortune just by stepping in Australia. If you want to some here to study justify your career aspirations rather than attending some fake Indian institution here in Australia and spoing your career.

We have population crisis in our country and this is the reason people end up finding oppurtunities in other countries. Among Asians, Indians and Chinese can be found almost all the white dominated countries. We would not hesistate going to Mars, if there is an oppurunity. Now, its time to understand our limitations and potentials. All we need is redifine our education system and economics. We are culturally rich country with higher values, let us not spoil ourselves going into country like Australia. They are nothing but a bunch of English prisoners.

Boycott Australia Cricket . Boycott Australian Cricket Coaches . Boycott Australian Columnists in newspapers.Be non-violent .

guys this is rediculous..there were many incidents similar to this. these kind of things are very common in every country including india. but who ever is MR proudindian dont compare with US everyone knows very well that US is more into this. OZ govt is very much against racism its jus yu need to approach right way. plz IPL has nothing to do with this..

been for 9 years in australia and still feel that they do not accept us and see us as aliens from poor land and throw dirty and difficult jobs at us. They have no understanding of outside world and live a life without caring for others., what would you expect from such fellows

Alright!

Why these country people(Foreign nationals) are not understanding one simple thing that, We(Indians) have not harmed anyone for any reason. We always helped others and we will. Before they attack any Indian , why don't they think what have we done and why do we deserve this attack.

Also why Indian government is not pressurizing US government over the killings of 100s of Indians in past couple years. There is "ZERO" progress in resolving these cases. We see scrolling about for one week and everyone forgets about this. Indian Government should pressurize US government equally as it is doing with Oz Government.
