India International: Laksya Sen, Shikha Gautham make it to finals at Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Laksya Sen and Shikha Gautham of men’s singles and women’s singles categories respectively made it to the finals of the India International Series badminton championship being played at the Pullela Gopichand Academy here.

The fourth seeded Lakshya sealed a comfortable 23-21, 21-14 victory over top seeded Abhishek Yelegar to set up the title clash with Malaysian Yee Han Chong.

 

In the women’s section semifinal, Shikha made a tremendous comeback victory against Rasika Raje as the scoreline read 17-21, 21-19, 21-17. Also in the other semi, Tanishq Mamilla Palli beat the second seeded Chua Hui Zhen Grace 21-17, 16-21, 21-16 to meet Shikha in the final. It took a three-setter for Shikha to defeat her compatriot Rasika.
