Adelaide, Dec. 5: Openers Shane Watson and Simon Katich got Australia off to a flyer against the West Indies on Day Two of the second Test at the Adelaide Oval here on Saturday, after the visitors racked up 451 in their first innings, their best against Australia since 1992-93 with Brendan Nash scoring 92.
At stumps, Australia were 174/0, with Watson batting on 96 and Katich on 71. Katich, played second fiddle to Watson’s stroke-filled knock, although he did take the spotlight on one occasion when he slog-swept Sulieman Benn for six.
Scores: West Indies 451 (Nash 92; Johnson 3/105, Watson 2/57) vs Australia 174/0 (Watson batting 96, Katich batting 71).
