Nellore: The Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) is mulling over launching the Chandrayaan-III mission through GSLV rocket between February and July next year from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, SDSC, Shar, Sriharikota.
Shar director A. Rajarajan disclosed this while addressing the media at the Spaceport on the sidelines of Independence Day celebrations on Monday. He attributed the failure of EOS-02 and Azaadi Satellites to reach designated orbit to a sensor problem in the rocket. The satellites were launched by PSLV-D1 mission recently.
Referring to the Human Spaceflight Programme, ‘Gaganyaan Mission’, he said the launch will be scheduled only after carrying out a few experimental launches without crew and first such launch is likely to be in September or October this year through GSLV-Mk III.
Rajarajan said they have to conduct four important ground tests for Gaganyaan and their objective is to bring the crew members back safely.
According to the Shar director, another SSLV is likely to be launched in November or December and Isro intends to launch four missions in the next 4 months. “Isro has launched 81 rockets apart from 3 experimental launches during the last 75 years after Independence.
There are 13 satellites developed by students in space in addition to the 114 satellites belonging to India. Isro also launched 342 foreign satellites belonging to 34 countries, Rajarajan said.
He also said that SSLV-D1 had carried the national flag as part of Azadi Ka Amit Mahotsav being celebrated across the country.
