What I do passionately and as a ritual is music. My first language is music. In the process of singing and perfecting it to match the beauty of the art of my gurus, I find God. Small flashes of seconds, when I listen to music or perform, I enter a zone of nothingness and elevation. It is in such fractions of time that I find complete peace and happiness.
Meditation and music make me one with the inner core. For me God is everywhere. I have conversations with God all the time. I experience the presence of God every second of my life. God’s power is so huge that I turn to Him in both extreme moments of happiness and sadness.
I feel gifted to be born to my parents. My mother who is a musician pushed me all the time to perfect my practice. It is a gift for me to have got Lalgudi Jayaraman as my guru in Chennai after 20 years of living in Mumbai. Some combinations spell success only by the grace of God.
I think people like me are the God-chosen ones to give joy to others through music. I keep learning from my students and masters. God showed up in so many ways in my life — as parents, brothers, gurus and students.
