A driver gave a slip to his employer and fled with an Audi car and Rs 9.7 lakh in cash that was kept in the car in Petbasheerabad on the city outskirts on Wednesday. The Audi, however, was abandoned on the roadside some distance away, but the driver escaped with the cash.
According to Petbasheer-abad SI Ch. Nethaji, the owner of the vehicle, Mr Krishnam Raju, is into the real estate business. A resident of Prapurna Enclave in Petbasheerabad, Mr Raju had kept about Rs 9.7 lakh in cash in his car for a business deal. However, when he came out of his house to get into the car, he found that his driver Narasimha had fled with the Audi.
Quoting Mr Raju, the police said that the driver is from Medchal. Narasimha had earlier worked with Mr Raju as his driver for two years about a year ago. He had rejoined duty 10 days ago. “His address is not known and we couldn’t locate him in Medchal,” police said.
