Paul Francis Meekin, Headmaster of Trio World School and a British national, was arrested on Wednesday for submitting fake doctorate documents to the school authorities. He had earlier been arrested on charges of allegedly sexually harassing his student and a minor.
He was released on bail and he got himself admitted to a private hospital with complaints of ill health. School authorities filed a complaint with Kodigehalli police on Wednesday, stating that Meekin had submitted fake documents, the police said. Trio World School Director K.M. Naveen told Deccan Chronicle that the school lodged a complaint only regarding Meekin’s multiple passports.
“We came to know about it during an internal inquiry and complained to the police. He was rearrested based on our complaint.” A spokesperson of the school said Meekin was dismissed on January 23 after a boy’s parents filed a complaint with the school authorities regarding harassment.
“When the school continued with enquiries and cross-verified the documents submitted by Meekin at the time of employment, we came to know that his doctor of philosophy certificate from the University of Sheffield, dated Jan 27, 2004, was fabricated,” the spokesperson said. The Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights is enquiring into alleged violations of child rights by Meekin. “He had boasted to one of our former teachers that he held multiple passports. Our apprehension was that he would abuse our school children and flee the country on his other passport. The Trio management filed the complaint with the Kodigehalli police,” the spokesperson said.
