It was a big night for Sanjay Dutt. The actor had invited the who’s who of the film industry to celebrate the success of Agneepath. But what was supposed to be a night of celebration turned into a nightmare for Sanju’s guests — Shah Rukh Khan and Shirish Kunder.
The buzz is that Khan and Kunder got into a heated argument over an old issue.
Apparently, throughout the evening Kunder kept taking digs at SRK about the disastrous opening of Ra.One and Don 2.
SRK, then, lost his temper and slapped Kunder.
“It was shocking to see SRK slap Kunder,” an eyewitness said.
"The two have had certain issues. I think it just added up to the drama.”
Incidentally, Kunder is married to choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan. And after Farah and SRK's falling out, relations have been strained.
"Kunder kept rambling about something and made sure that he was always around SRK at the party. Shah Rukh tried to avoid the situation because he did not want to spoil his friend's party. But Kunder refused to budge!” says an actress who witnessed the after-midnight fracas.
Several claim Shah Rukh was provoked.
“The party just came to a standstill. I don’t know what transpired between them but I saw SRK holding Kunder by his collar,” another eyewitness claimed.
Rumours are that both SRK and Sanjay ganged up against Kunder. Others, however, told us that it was host Dutt, who intervened at the right time, and calmed the situation.
“Dutt tried to pacify the situation and escorted Kunder to his car. It was around 3.30 am when a battered Kunder left the party. But SRK stayed on till 5.30 am,” Deccan Chronicle can reveal.
Shrish’s wife Farah has, meanwhile, denied rumours that both Sanjay and SRK ganged up against her husband and admits that her friend-turned-foe SRK raised his hand on her husband.
“Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem. Being the first to raise your hand means you have a personal or professional crisis going on in your life. It saddens me to see him doing the same,” Farah said.
This is not Shah Rukh's first temper burst - after Ra. One. The actor recently snapped at a journalist during a press conference.
Manu blame the grumpiness on the failure of his two recent flick - Ra.One and Don 2, and then there are others who blame it on the rumours of his alleged affair with Don 2 co-star Priyanka Chopra and resulting rifts in his marriage.
SRK, or his publicist, have refused comment.
