Suresh Menon, Actor and comedian:
I am an avid comic book reader. I love to read comic series of Tintin and Asterix. I hardly read novels these days as when I pick up a novel, I want to completely devote myself to it and finish it in one go. But due to time crunch I can’t do it.
It is very important for every individual to inculcate the habit of reading as a wise man once said, “Books are the windows to the world.”
One of my favourite novels is Tycoon by Harold Robbins. The book is about the success story of Jack Lear, in broadcasting industry. I like the way the author has built the character of a tycoon.
The other book that really inspired me was Mahabharata by Kamala Subramaniam. I read the book during my college days. While reading the book I felt I was reading a screenplay and thought what a film! Though I must clarify that it didn’t inspire me at a religious level but the author has beautifully described every major event which makes the book special to me.
I can’t read books in digital format. Tablets, Kindles or laptops are not for me. I like to read them in the traditional form. For when you read a book you need to be completely attentive but when you try to read e-books, there are way too many distractions.
