The municipal commissioner, Mr G. Ravi Babu, on Wednesday asked the public health officials to serve notices to the owners of lands which became breeding ground for the mosquitoes in Ajit Singh Nagar area.
He said the owners of the open lands are not raising the level to check water stagnation. He asked the officials to serve notices on the land owners to immediately raise the level and prevent water stagnation in Doctors Colony, Visal-andhra Colony and Ajit Singh Nagar.
The commissioner, along with the central MLA Mr Malladi Vishnu, inspected the three colonies on Wednesday. Mr Ravi Babu has cautioned that the VMC will take action on the lands owners if they fail to take preventive measures. He asked the officials to release oil balls and intensify anti-larvae operations. He noticed the unprotected open site belonging to the VMC and asked the officials to immediately install bamboo fence to protect the VMC land from encroachers.
Local residents of AVS Road told the commissioner that the public toilets are not being maintained properly and suggested the civic chief to hand over the responsibility to Sulabh. The commissioner assured the residents that steps will be taken to maintain hygiene and suggested the public health department to take steps to check open urination on the roads.
Responding to the requ-ests made by local residents, he said survey is being conducted for allocation of houses under the JNNURM and all eligible families living on Rajiv Karakatta would get houses. He warned that the VMC will take action on encroachers and brokers on Rajiv Karakatta. The VMC chief medical officer Dr Satyanarayana Raju, executive engineer Bhas-kara Rao, assistant medical officer Dr Lakshmi Kumari, staff from public health and engineering departments participated.
