“Losing weight is like chasing the hot guy. It’s the moment of mixed feelings including ecstasy, joy, tear, sadness etc and when you get him, you have to be with it till eternity. It’s all about finding that happy weight that one can feel good about,” says Kalli Puri, at the launch of her weight loss memoir Confession of her Serial Dieter.
Kalli became 60 kg from 103 kg. Kalli, who belongs to a fit family says, “I was size 22 and always fantasising food. My book is nothing but a self-delusion and my constant struggle with weight since childhood.” Actress Sonam Kapoor, launched the book and both ladies happily confessed about their serial diets, ongoing battle against weight and much more.
So, what motivated Sonam to get that hot figure? “I was 63 kg at the age of 12. Unlike girls that played with dolls, I used to read books and eat chocolates like peanuts. I had fat rolls all over. I was 86 at the age of 19, when Sanjay Leela Bansali gave me a reality check and told me that my body looks like one old Ajanta and Ellora painting.” shares Sonam.
It took Sonam two years to get down to 61 kg, with Suryanamaskars, pineapple diet and days of starvation. Sharing their anecdotes, Kalli shares, “My mother used to put me on a diet at the age of 4. She used to ask me take six rounds of the big lawn and then would treat me with one honey jam toast. It was painful.” While Sonam’s mother put her through a dietician, who asked her to eat jowar roti, she would secretly feed herself pizzas and burgers. “I also went on a pineapple diet, which apparently burns fat and fills the stomach instantly,” she says.
Kalli got back on her strivewhen she went to her kids’ school and couldn’t fit into the tiny chairs like other mothers. It’s not the end of the road for Sonam, who’s struggling to reach her dream weight of
56 kg.
