It seems police are confident that there will be no revival of the separate Telangana movement in the near future though TRS top leaders claim that they will intensify the agitation after the Sankranti festival.
The removal of the barbed wire fencing which was erected in front of the collectorate as security, to restrain Telangana protagonists from storming the collectorate is an indication of police downgrading the prospect of Telangana movement becoming serious again.
According to reliable sources, Central intelligence officials sent reports to the Central government, stating that TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and M. Kodandaram of the TPJAC have lost credibility and clout and the Telangana movement has also lost its strength after withdrawing the Sakala Janula Samme.
They reported that not more than 2,000 people attended the function organised on completion of two years of the TJAC relay hunger strike camp for a separate Telangana state at Bodhan at which K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Mr Kodandaram were guests.
Political observer feel that the TRS and its top leaders, including K. Chandrasekhar Rao, have lost credibility with political developments like benefiting out of the Polavaram tenders, withdrawing the Sakala Janula Samme abruptly without getting any promise on the Telangana state demand from the Central government and the TPJAC allowing liquor shops and theatres to run while ensuring the closure of private and government schools and colleges during the Sakala Janula Samme.
The change in the political situation is also clearly visible as the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and YSR Congress party have intensified their programmes on various public issues, taking advantage of the prevailing lull in the Telangana movement.
