Pleased at the response to the Rythu Poru Bata, Telugu Desam president N. Chandrababu Naidu has decided that a programme to highlight the issues being faced by the public would keep the ball rolling to the party’s advantage. The Rythu Poru Bata will be taken up in Krishna, East Godavari and West Godavari, the three remaining districts soon. Mr Naidu has asked senior party leaders to come up with new ideas for taking up people centric issues in the next action plan.
Speaking at the party's extended meeting attended by senior leaders and cadre, Mr Naidu alleged that Jalayagnam was launched to loot public money and not to provide irrigation facilities for farmers. “The government spent Rs 65,000 to Rs 75,000 crore on Jalayagnam, yet it could not provide irrigation to 3,000 acres. The situation has come to such a pass that contractors are threatening to stop works for delayed payments. Jalayagnam has become Dhanayagnam. It has become a money spinner for the corrupt,” he said.
