‘I can’t wait to meet Big B’

A. R. Rahman may be his maternal uncle, but G. V. Prakash is one young dynamic music director who has strived to get to where he is. Be it Veyil, Madrasapattinam or the latest flick, Mayakkam Enna, G. V. is known to come up with brilliant original tracks.

In his latest career move, Prakash will take on his first Bollywood flick, Joker, directed by Sirish Kunder.
Needless to say that G.V. Prakash is elated with the development and his joy is apparent during an exclusive chat with this news paper.

“The songs are composed and ready. I am very excited about this. Sirish and I are now working on Common Man, starring Big B!” Sirish and G. V. have a great working relationship. G. V. says, “I worked with him in Joker, we have a great rapport which makes it easier for both of us in terms of what outcome to expect.”

While Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi were cast in the lead in Joker, Common Man stars Big B, who Prakash describes as one of his icons. “I am excited to have bagged this offer. I can’t wait to meet him. I think that'll happen soon. We’re just about beginning work on the project.

” G. V. thinks that Big B is his role model. He says, “I’ve heard the entire industry talking about him. I’ve grown up watching his films. And today, when I think that I’m composing tracks for one of his films, I can’t help thinking how lucky I am.”

Every movie that G. V. has worked on, his soundtracks are usually much talked about. Ask him about Joker and he says, “I am doing my research. The movie is based on a realistic theme so I am striving to make very unique tracks.” 2011 has been a great year for the composer with Mayakkam Enna and Aadukalam’s tracks being critically acclaimed.

He says, “For any musician, the awards are a boost of moral. It makes me want to work harder.” Moving on to this once eligible bachelor’s personal life, one can’t miss asking him about wedding plans with fiancé Saindhavi who is also a playback singer. He says, “We have decided to tie the knot by the end of this year. We’ll announce the dates soon.

”Ask him if they discuss career and he says, “Not really. We trust each other’s decisions. Since we’ve been together since our school days we have a great understanding.” In the meantime, G. V. has a lot going in filmdom. He says, “I am currently working on Karigalan. I have also been working on four films, all under different directors — Bharathiraja, Vijay, Bala and Vettrimaran.”
