The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered issue of notice to police seeking explanation for not filing an FIR against Anil Kumble based on a complaint by his wife’s former husband that he forged his signature to obtain a passport for his step-daughter. The notices were ordered to be issued to Bengaluru commissioner Jyoti Prakash Mirji and Bharathinagar Police Station where Jagirdar, former husband of Kumble’s wife, Chetana, had lodged the complaint.
Jagirdar had moved the High Court seeking a direction to police to file FIR against Kumble. In his petition Jagirdar, who has been engaged in a legal battle with Chetana, contended that Kumble had “impersonated” him though his name has been mentioned as “father” in the passport and signed the documents misleading the passport authorities. Aaruni, born to Chetana and Jagirdar, lives with her mother and Kumble. The petitioner also said the police have not registered an FIR on his complaint filed on December 26 last year.
