The daughter of a DSP, who married the owner of a fast-food outlet in her village, has turned to the DGP seeking protection from her parents and alleging that they are threatening her.
Sundareswari, a 19-year-old B.Tech student from Virudhunagar district, said that she married Alex Pandian of Usilampatti, her long-time lover, at a temple on November 7. The two then registered their marriage at a sub-registrar’s office at Senthurai in Dindigul district, she said in her complaint filed at the DGP’s office.
As the two had married against the wishes of her parents, they are now threatening her with dire consequences, she alleged.
Sundareswari also alleged that her father, an advocate, and her mother, a DSP in Virudhunagar district, were planning to commit honour killing if she refused to severe ties with Pandian. “Both of us are majors and we have all the right to chose our life partner.
As my parents are influential, they are trying everything to separate us,” Sundareswari said in her complaint. “Fearing for our lives, we have been living a nomadic life,” she said, adding that they need protection to lead a peaceful life.
