Each day seems to be a celebration in Mollywood, with movies being released at the drop of a hat.
The latest to make the news is none other than Kaanakombath, directed by Mahadevan.
But guess who is thrilled to bits more than anyone else?
“I’m happy that I could give my best,” says Dipu Santh, brother of Sreesanth, who debuts in the suspense thriller scripted by none other than Madhu Muttom of Manichithrathazhu fame.
And that was the main reason that Dipu grabbed the offer when he was approached by Madhu. “It was just a coincidence, though I nurtured a secret desire to act,” says Dipu, who was identified by the scriptwriter during a casual talk with him at his restaurant in S36, a venture jointly run by Dipu and his brother Sree.
The movie, which has Mythili and Vishnu Kumar, a newcomer in the lead, has other veteran actors like Jagathy essaying important roles. Kannaakombath stands out for its endearing songs penned by Sharath Chandra Varma.
But can you guess what dilemma Dipu faced while essaying his role? “I was very nervous initially while acting, as my scene required me to give Jagathy Chettan a tight slap,” says the jovial Dipu, who confesses he was so shy initially that he discouraged his family and friends from watching him act!
The youngster goes one step ahead and says his villain-like looks helped him portray the villain’s role better. The debut movie has lady luck shining on him again. “I will be acting in a Tamil movie soon,” says Dipu, who is presently on an expansion spree of his business consisting of a restaurant, coffee shop, a music band and media production house. “I would consider it a blessing to be part of the industry and I look forward to it. Now I have got a movie with a good script and I would also love to take up different roles too,” says Dipu.
When queried whether there are any new offers from Malayalam cinema Dipu says he is in discussion with three directors, but nothing has been finalised as yet.
Dipu Santh says his biggest support has been his family.
“Sree has always been a great inspirer. Each time he is down, he overcomes the situation with his hard work and positive attitude and that’s one thing I have learnt from my brother,” says Dipu, who is gearing up to scintillate audiences in Dubai and Colombo with his band S36 soon.
